Privacy Policy

Effective October 15, 2026

The short version: PickTheOutfit has no account and no server of its own. Your wardrobe, photos and outfit history live on your devices and in your own iCloud account. We don't collect, see, sell or share any of it, and the app contains no analytics, advertising or tracking.

Who is responsible

PickTheOutfit is made by Thom Ritterfeld. Contact details are in the imprint; for privacy questions write to support@picktheoutfit.com.

Your wardrobe and outfits

The garments you add, their photos, the outfits you save and the outfits you confirm each day are stored on your device. If iCloud is enabled, Apple syncs them through your private iCloud database (CloudKit) so they're available on your other devices, such as your Apple Watch. Your preferences and the style the app learns from your choices are synced the same way. This data sits in your own iCloud account under Apple's privacy policy; we have no access to it.

Recognising what kind of garment a photo shows happens on your device. Photos are never uploaded to us.

Location and weather

To suggest an outfit that suits the weather, the app asks for your location while you use it. It sends that location to Apple's WeatherKit to get the forecast and to Apple Maps to show the name of your town. We never receive or store your location. You can turn location access off at any time in Settings; the app then can't fetch local weather.

Camera and photos

The camera is only used when you take a picture of a garment. Permission to add to your photo library is only used when you choose to save an image there. The app doesn't read your photo library otherwise.

Notifications, widgets, Siri and Apple Watch

The daily reminder is a local notification scheduled on your device. The widget, the Apple Watch app and the Siri shortcuts read the same data that is already on your devices.

Ratings

The app may ask you to rate it using Apple's standard rating prompt. Anything you submit goes to Apple, not to us.

This website

picktheoutfit.com uses no cookies, analytics or third-party embeds. Like any web server, ours processes your IP address and the pages you request to deliver them; these technical logs are not used to identify you.

Deleting your data

Deleting garments or outfits in the app removes them from your devices and your iCloud. Deleting the app removes its data from that device only. To remove it from iCloud as well, either delete your garments and outfits in the app first, or go to Settings › [your name] › iCloud › Manage Storage, choose PickTheOutfit and delete its data.

Children

PickTheOutfit doesn't knowingly collect personal data from anyone, including children.

Your rights

Because we hold no personal data about you from the app, there is nothing for us to export or delete. If you are in the EU you still have the rights under the GDPR, including to contact us or to complain to a data protection authority.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new effective date.
